Legends of the LPGA will appear at Miacomet Country Club on Nantucket Saturday and Sunday, September 8-9 for the second annual Legends on Grey Lady event during Nantucket Golf Weekend. Eighteen Legends Tour players, including LPGA and World Golf Hall of Famers Nancy Lopez, Juli Inkster and Laura Davies, will tee it up in a 9-hole team competition on Saturday and an 18-hole pro-am on Sunday in support of the Nantucket Cottage Hospital Walk-In Clinic.
"Last year's event raised over $50,000 for the charity," said Legends Hall of Famer Jane Blalock, also in the 2018 field. "It's a fantastic event that is well-supported by the local residents and the players absolutely love it." In 2017, the team of Michelle McGann, LPGA and World Golf Hall of Famer Pat Bradley, Legends Hall of Famer Elaine Crosby and Laurie Rinker fired a 5 under par 31 in a best ball format to win the 9-hole team competition.
"With Davies and Inkster joining, the shootout is guaranteed to be an even tougher fight to the finish this year," added Blalock who also noted that Nantucket High School students have been enlisted to serve as caddies. "We're thrilled to continue this community partnership with Nantucket Cottage Hospital and Miacomet Country Club."
The 9-hole game begins at 4 pm on September 8 and fans are encouraged to come out and follow the action. Limited roping allows attendees to get up close and there will be plenty of opportunities for photos and autographs on the range and on the final hole following the round.
Four-person teams for the 9-hole challenge will be announced closer to the event.
An 8:30 am shotgun start is planned for the pro-am on September 9. An LPGA Legend will be paired with each sponsored team of amateurs.
