XXIO Desert Scramble To Offer Legends Tour Pro-Am Spots

January 10, 2017

Amateurs will have a chance to compete for spots in The Legends Tour’s Walgreens Charity Classic Pro-Am through a new event this spring.

The XXIO Desert Scramble women’s amateur tournament will be held Wednesday, March 1, and will give 50 two-woman teams (100 players) a chance to win four spots into the Walgreens professional pro-am. The two-player teams posting the low-gross and low-net scores will earn pro-am entry.

The amateur event will kick off with a 9 a.m. shotgun start at Grandview Golf Course in Sun City West.

“We are thrilled to offer an opportunity for amateur women to experience the tournament course at Grandview firsthand and to meet some of our great players on The Legends Tour,” said Jane Blalock, Legends Tour CEO. “XXIO is the perfect sponsor, as more than 40 percent of their equipment buyers are women. Participants will be treated to a memorable experience as part of the Walgreens Charity Classic tournament week.”

The field in the amateur tournament is limited to the first 100 women to enter. Interested participants may sign up as two-women teams or individually. The tournament committee will form two-player teams for individuals who enter the event.

Entry deadline will be at 5 p.m., Feb. 17.

Entry fee is $100 per player and includes a complimentary practice round on Tuesday, Feb. 28, and greens fees and cart for the tournament on Wednesday, March 1.

In addition, each tournament participant will receive a gift bag, awards luncheon, a wine tasting with Jan Stephenson Wines, contests and prizes, a XXIO pre-game, mental-edge warmup hosted by LPGA Legends, and eight tickets to the Walgreens Charity Classic professional tournament on Saturday and Sunday, March 4-5.

"We love the LPGA Legends and all of us at XXIO are excited to become the title sponsor of the XXIO Desert Scramble as part of the Walgreens Charity Classic week,” said Chuck Thiry, VP XXIO USA.

“Our mission is to make the world’s finest golf equipment for players with moderate swing speeds and we look forward to sponsoring the Desert Scramble and showcasing our products all week at the Walgreens Charity Classic," Thiry added.
