BOSTON, May 31, 2016 – The Legends Tour and the Wendy’s Charity Classic pro-am will return to Michigan in August.
The 16th annual event will be held on Monday, August 15, at the Country Club of Jackson in Jackson, Mich., and will once again benefit Wendy's Wonderful Kids and the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption (DTFA).
Hosted by Michigan native Elaine Crosby, the longtime event will feature 25 legends of the LPGA, including LPGA Hall of Famers Pat Bradley, Nancy Lopez and Patty Sheehan.
"I am excited to bring back my Legends friends from the LPGA Tour to help raise funds for adoption," said Crosby, winner of two LPGA tournaments and one Legends Tour event.
"This is the largest event of its kind in Michigan and the third largest golf event contributor to DTFA nationwide,” Crosby added. “We are thrilled to continue this tradition in Jackson.”
The pro-am in Jackson was launched in 1999 and has raised $2.5 million in the last 15 years.
Starboard Group, based in Coral Springs, Fla., will host the event through its nonprofit Starboard Group Foundation.
The event has been a popular stop for players from the Midwest, including Crosby and Cindy Figg-Currier, both of Michigan, Barb Mucha of Ohio and Nancy Scranton of Illinois.
The Wendy’s Charity Classic is open to the public and donations at the gate are encouraged. Parking is available inside the main gate along the entrance drive, with only a five-minute walk to the first tee.
Sponsorships and playing spots in the pro-am are still available. Contact tournament director Sue Fracker at 617.513.4716 or email@example.com to learn more or to reserve your spot in the event.
Gates open at 8 a.m., with play beginning at 10 a.m.
