SEATTLE, Feb. 26, 2020 – LPGA veteran player Wendy Ward will be featured at the Seattle Golf Show next weekend, set for Mar. 7-8, in the CenturyLink Field Event Center.
The four-time LPGA Tour champion and three-time Team USA Solheim Cup Assistant Captain will meet the public at the show in the White Horse Golf Club Booth #739 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 7. A resident of Edwall, Wash., Ward will greet and invite golf fans to the 3rd annual Suquamish Clearwater Legends Cup presented by Boeing. Free tournament grounds passes, a $15 value, will be distributed in the booth while supplies last.

An All-American at Arizona State University, Ward qualified for the LPGA Tour on her first attempt in 1996 and captured her first victory in 1997, setting 54- and 72-hole scoring records at the time. She will appear in the White Horse Golf Club booth, starting Saturday at 9:30 a.m., to meet fans, sign autographs, share stories and snap photos.
“Seattle and the Northwest in general have some of the best fans in golf,” says Ward, who made her debut appearance on The Legends Tour at the 2018 Suquamish Clearwater Legends Cup. “I really enjoy having this opportunity to compete again with my friends from the LPGA Tour. Playing in front of my home state fans, on a fun challenging course like White Horse, was just a blast, and I can’t wait to bring my game back in May and go after that trophy.”
During her 20-plus years on the LPGA Tour, Ward also competed in the 2002, 2003 and 2005 Solheim Cup events and served as an Assistant Captain for the American team in the three most recent contests, led in 2015, 2017 and 2019 by Team USA Captain Juli Inkster. Inkster won the Suquamish Clearwater Legends Cup last year.
“Serving as an assistant captain for Juli was truly a highlight for me,” said Ward. “Juli always brings her best to the table, as she proved last year by dominating the field at the Suquamish Legends Cup. At Solheim, her energy was contagious – it was always ‘team first’ and everyone played their hearts out. Though I didn’t hit a shot, I sure felt like I did!”
The Suquamish Clearwater Legends Cup presented by Boeing will be staged May 28-30, at White Horse Golf Club in Kingston, Wash. In addition to the professional event, a women’s amateur team scramble presented by Kaiser Permanente will kick off the week’s activities on Wednesday, May 27.
The main event’s pro-am is set for Thursday, May 28, with professional tournament rounds taking place on Friday, May 29, and Saturday, May 30. A field of 32 Legends will compete for a $175,000 purse. Four top senior women amateurs from the Pacific Northwest will also compete alongside the Legends for both tournament rounds at White Horse.
Tournament tee times will start late morning to give area fans the opportunity to watch a full afternoon of legendary competition on Friday and Saturday. A trophy presentation to award the tournament champion will be held on the 18th green immediately following Saturday’s final round.
In addition to Ward, players expected to compete in this year’s Suquamish Clearwater Legends Club include defending champion Inkster of Los Altos, Calif., and 2018 tournament champion Trish Johnson of Great Britain.
“I think fans from around here enjoy watching the Legends grind it out, even at our ‘seasoned’ age,” added Ward. “We can still hit it, chip it, and roll in the eagles and birdies like they remember when they followed the LPGA Tour at Meridian Valley.”
