Credits golf coach Ted Fort and Bob and Velma West as the individuals most influencing her career…Attended Colorado University on an athletic scholarship in track and field… Competed in the pentathlon on the U.S. Track and Field Team in Russia in 1976...Hobbies include fly fishing for trout, surfing and snorkeling in Hawaii and playing the guitar. West, who did not start playing golf until 1978 at the age of 22, was runner-up at the 1979 Colorado State Amateur. She played in four amateur events that season prior to turning professional.
